Q:

Side Plates RH & LH for Craftsman Snowblower Model 536-885020 536-885020

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

Both side plates had been substituted with newer plates from the originals. The substituted plate from 308120 (LH) has been discontinued, with no further options. The substituted RH plate is available while we have stock. The updated part number is 1501599E701MA. I have linked it below on Sears Parts.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

What you want to do cannot be done. We've had this same topic come up several times over the last few weeks. We've spoken with our 2 main manufacturers of snow blowers and have been assured by both that it cannot be done.

In the world of fabrication and machining things, I'm sure there is a way where it could be done. But the cost of doing something like that would easily run to 2 maybe even 3 times the amount of a brand new machine. Unless you have a shop and can do everything on your own.

I wish I had better news for you but I'm afraid I don't. You may want to check around on Ebay and local classifieds to see if you can maybe locate the parts you need. You may even check at a local shop as many times shops will have old machines they use for parts sitting out back. You never know when you may get lucky.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

I have attached a photo/drawing of the governor set up complete with the carb. I am unable to locate a photo of the exact engine that you have though. There are a few Tecumseh books available to view on the internet. If this doesn't help you any submit back and I'll try again. Also, if you do end up submitting back to me see if you can get the model number from the engine directly to make sure we're looking at the same thing.

I have checked the engine and I cna't find an engine number. I did find a code number (2233200369) if this helps. I drew a picture of the way the linkage looks to me at this time. The Speed control lever is attached to the side of the engine block.

Ok, I see the issue now. Your photos didn't come through for me at first. I will see what all I can dig up for this. Because you're right, something has to enable that linkage to make that bent around the block. I will post something back or shoot you an email when I have something that will help you. Thanks for your patience.

There should be a long piece that comes off the governor shaft (the shaft that comes from within the engine). It's the "governor lever". That piece should stick out to just past the edge of the block so the linkage from the carb can connect to it. The part number for that is, 33454A. I'm curious about why you don't seem to have that piece. So you know, stuff for this brand of engine is getting harder and harder to come by since they went out of (engine making) business. Let me know how this turns out or if there is anything else I can do.

I response to your question about why the part was missing. I don't know. I inherited the snow thrower when my son-in-law moved and they got it from his father so it is anyones guess why it was removed. Thanks again!!!

Well, that makes sense. I hope you're able to get it going. They just don't make engines like that one anymore. So it's always cool to see one still running and being used. Again, if we can do anything just let us know. Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com

Hi, Well I ordered the part you referenced and it arrived today. The problem is that it isn't what I need. I have included a picture of it for your information. As you can see it is flat and would not make a connection around the corner. I have also included a drawing of what I think the device should look like. Do you have any other suggestions?
