Q:

Need to adjust clutch on my trac drive snow thrower 536.884900

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your snowthrower. Upon researching model536.884900; the clutch is not adjustable. There is a spring at the end of the clutch cable that stretches out. It could need to be replaced.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Q:

Snow Thrower will not move forward or in reverse. 536884900 Craftsman Craftsman 25 in snow thrower

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the snow blower.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Craftsman model number 536884900.

When is the last time  you checked or changed your belts.  You have 2 belts on this snow blower.  One that drives the tractor forward and reverse and 1 belt that drives the auger.   When you change one  you should change both of them.

Drive belt for model 536.884900

Q:

trac snowthrower 536.884900 only drives in reverse gear. Have full range of gear selections and will index in each easily. Why no forward drive?

A:

Good afternoon.... I'm aware that reverse only is useless to you. I conducted a search for a similar situation, using your model number and was unable to find one. I did find one link, that relates to a tractor, that may be suitable for you. The technician gives excellent trouble shooting advise. Review this link and be aware that you will be hearing from an expert on that model number within the next two business days if not sooner. I hope this helps you and have a nice Sunday

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the snow blower. Seeing as the unit drives in reverse, I suspect it only needs a cable adjustment. I posted the instructions below for adjusting the cable. Just click on the image to enlarge it. Once you make the adjustment check the operation. If the unit still does not drive, I recommend checking the belt and the friction disc. The images below also include the instructions for checking the belt and friction disc.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark

Thanks, I opened the transmission area and found that the hex slider bar was rusty and had a broken shear pin on the shift lever. I replaced the shear pin and filed the sides of the bar. Greased the bar and it works perfectly now.

clayton ,

I am glad to hear you have the snow blower up and running again. It is recommended to grease the hex shaft once a year before storing it. Please keep us in mind if you have any other problems with the snow blower.
