Q:

sears Kenmore elite side-by-side refrigerator.

A:

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the frost build up in the freezer. If the fan motor is running, this will indicate a problem with the defrost system. First, check for an error code in the display that may help determine what could be causing this problem. If there is no error code, there is a test button on the main control board that may also help determine, what could be causing this problem. This will be a small button that will be in the center of the board. I'm attaching information below for this test button. In the second test mode, if the heating element does work, it will indicate the board # EBR64734402 is not functioning properly on its own and will need to be replaced. If the heating element does not work, some checks will need to be made. I would recommend having a technician make these checks. I'm listing a site you can access, to schedule a tech to come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services. When making this check, the temperature must be below 15 degrees. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

It can be very irritating when the ice maker in your refrigerator fails to produce ice. I did some research and provided a link to a similar question and answer on our site. I hope this will shed a little more light on the issue until the Expert responds to your question in more detail within 24 to 48 hours.

I know it can be frustrating when the icemaker stops working. It's possible the icemaker itself has failed or the water valve could be defective. This icemaker can be cycled manually, which may help determine the problem. To cycle this icemaker, press and hold the water level button, for 3 seconds (see picture). If the icemaker now cycles and fills, it indicates the icemaker # AEQ36756919  is not cycling on its own and will need to be replaced. If it cycles but does not fill and you can hear a humming noise, the water valve # AJU34125525 will need to be replaced. If noting happens, some voltage checks will need to be made. I recommend having a technician make these checks. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, please include any additional details.
