I understand how upsetting this type issue can be.  This is somewhere in the color filters.  It could just be dust settling on the components or a more serious problem wit the light engine system.  Do you also see the dots on the menu? If the spots are not on the menu, check the inputs. Bad inputs create several issue like these. If it is also on the menu, then the optical engine may need replacement. This is likely to get worse and the spots bigger over time. I recommend having a qualified service technician diagnose and make repairs.  You can use Sears Home Services to schedule. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Hello Larry,

I'm sorry to hear that your television has malfunctioned and I would like to assist you.  There are a few things that can cause an issue like this and it may be a simple issue.  Does the video appear off-color over the menu too?  I suggest pulling up the menu to see if it is also affected by the green cast in the image.  If this is the case and the menu is affected, this is then likely to be within the television and there are not any adjustments as mentioned in the initial question.  It is potentially an optics block failure and must be replaced, but let's see where we are prior to that conclusion

Please reply with what you find with the menu test and I'll be happy to assist you further.

Hi Jerry, The action highlighted like " video" is green, I don't remember if it was that color prior, but nothing else seems out of the ordinary.

Hello Larry,

Thank you for checking the menu, I believe that these are usually a shade of blue, so I think that the menu is affected. Is the green uniform across the entire screen or is it localized in a certain area? If it is localized or worse in a specific area this is definitely an optics block failure. If it is spread evenly and affects the entire image it could be an internal connection causing the optics block to not receive the correct color information. It is also still probable that the optics block is the cause for this as well, even if the entire image is affected. I suggest having a local television repair service or follow this link: Sears Home Services to schedule a Sears Television Technician to perform the diagnosis and quote a repair. This issue will require intensive testing to isolate and diagnose and I do not recommend that a person who is not completely familiar with this chassis attempt a repair.

The Green seems uniform,it seems things that were blue are green. on another site someone talked about adjusting a color tuner of some kind that is behind the speaker in front of the set. Is that a possible fix?

Hello Larry,

I believe that the "color tuner" that is referred to is actually the high voltage distribution block that is used on projections televisions and your LCD Projection type does not utilize that type of part. This big thing that is telling with this issue is the absence of blue, there are three small LCD's that are utilized in the optics block and it is likely that the blue LCD is not getting the signal or has failed. This issue is not user serviceable.

Hello Larry,

That is good to hear. This does tell us that the signal is making it to the LCD in the optics block. Did this issue start with the new lamp? That is a very important detail to know.

A:

Hello Larry,

I would have to lean to the bulb being the issue then. There are different color temperatures that these bulbs produce, essentially the light coming off the lamp has a different color to it. If you were already sent a replacement lamp and the color temperature is incorrect, there may be an error with the part number or some cross referencing has been incorrectly done. I would like any part number that may be on your original lamp, and if they precisely match the replacement lamps. Also, is your television model exactly a 50V500 or are there any letters after the model number? We need to be absolutely precise because the models that have an E or A use different lamp part numbers.

The problem with the TV is the light engine. The light engine is the main projection unit in the TV and the repair would start about $500.
