Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my TV screen flickering and not coming on?

A:

The flickering can be in the video or in the deflection/lightbox. One thing to suspect would be one of the three tubes flickering or the focus block which controls the brightness of the tube itself. A device that is arcing can vary these voltages and give a change in brightness that would be described as flickering. A tech would try to determine whether the video signal is what is causing the flicker or the devices that use the signal to create a visible image. You should set up service because I suspect you have something arcing, but I can't tell you for certain without being there.
