Q:

Why does my TV not power on?

A:

When the convergence circuit goes out on a projection TV, the top and bottom will bow in as well as separating the red, blue, and green picture to give a 3D looking image. If this is the symptom you had before the TV went completely out then most likely the convergence circuit has failed and killed a fuse in the power supply. This is all on the same board and the common failures are three IC that are the amps, the fuses that supply them, and some return resistors. A technician is needed to confirm this since there’s no way to know unless it is checked. If I am correct then the cost would be parts which can be around 120 for parts and then the labor added on top of that. The parts estimate I’m coming up with is using 3 amps along with whatever resistors or fuses you might need. If I am wrong and a board is needed, then the deflection is most likely from your description and that could get costly since they are not available and need to be sent to a bench technician to be repaired.
