Q:

I own 502255091 "Won't Start" 502255091 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your mower and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 502255091 and are you able to get the engine to turn over or get any sound clicking or anything like that. If you are not getting the engine to turn it will be a switch on the mower. First check the ignition switch, seat switch, blade switch. If the engine does turn you may have an issue with the carburator or the fuel is not making to the engine. Please  reply with additional information. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Thanks Sherman for the quick reply. That is my next check so I printed the cable diagram and I'm going to test the 3 relays. 1. Cross test the seat relay, 2. the clutch switch and 3. is the Blade Switch. Once I test those out tonight, I will report back tomorrow morning ok. As for the carburator, its brand new sears OEM so its getting fuel. I finished installing the Carb last night to complete the setup. The clue that it's a switch is that when I turn the key, I get nothing, not even a click.

You should see the fuel line connected to the bottom of the fuel tank. Use pliers to squeeze the clamp and then slide it down the hose a few inches. Use the pliers to pull the fuel line from the fuel tank nipple. Do the same procedure at the other end of the fuel line where it connects to the carburetor. If your fuel line does not have a fuel filter inline (on the fuel line) then purchase one from your local Sears or hardware store. Any in-line type fuel filter for lawn tractors will work.

Now connect your new fuel line to the tank and to the carburetor. If you are adding a fuel filter, pick a spot anywhere in the fuel line and clip it then put your filter there where you cut it.
