Thank you for your question on the replacement of the foot control lever for the vacuum cleaner.

Thank you for the pictures.

I will have to do some research on this model to see the best way to replace the foot release lever.

I do not know if you can replace it by removing the top cover or if you have to remove the main body to replace it.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi! I just got an email to take a survey on this. I know you're still looking, but I didn't want to complete the survey while it's being worked on.

Thank you for your patience Debi. I am so sorry but the manufacturer support contact has not gotten back with me yet even though I have been leaving him messages. I will try again today to contact him by phone. I have not worked on that specific model and I wanted to find out how much of the vacuum cleaner you will need to take apart to change the foot release. Sam A.

Thank you for your patience for this information Debi. I will start with having you lay the vacuum upside down and locating and removing I think 3 to 4 screws on the bottom side of the nozzle to remove the top cover on the vacuum. Once you have the screws removed then you can flip the vacuum over on its base and remove the yellow knob for the height adjustment and the top cover. The new foot pedal release has a spring that you may or may not have any longer. You will need that spring in position to install the new foot pedal release. Place the pedal release in position on to the base a snap into position. There should be a couple of plastic tabs formed into the pedal that snap into the nozzle base to install. Please let me know if that worked for you and if not I will try to get a couple of pictures for you from the manufacturer to help with the installation of the pedal. Sam A.

Thanks for the instructions. Can you help me verify which part I need, as in the part number so that I can order it? And, I think the spring part number may be helpful if that isn't there any longer. Is this the correct diagram? http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Eureka-Parts/Vacuum-Parts/Model-4870DT/1281/0645000/P0108180/00001?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=4870DT

Thank you for your question on changing the on/off switch and the rear wheels on the upright Eureka vacuum cleaner.

To change the rocker switch you will need to remove the dust bag box cover and then just above the dust box seal should be two screws to remove to remove the switch and lights cover.

I believe once you have the two screws removed you can lift up and unhook the panel from the main body.

The switch will have some plastic tabs that hold the switch to the cover and you should be able to remove the wire connections and then push-in on the sides of the switch tabs to remove the switch from the cover.

To replace the wheels I would suggest changing both the wheels and the axle.

Flip the vacuum over and locate the two securing plates that hold the axle to the body. Remove the screws for the axle and install the new wheel set.

If you will use the model 4870DT you will find the parts breakdown in our parts look up system.

Vacuum part listing .

Rear wheel with axle .

Rocker switch .

Here are the links for the model and the parts the above model of your vacuum cleaner.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
