Q:

LG LED TV Model #47LH30 will not turn on

A:

Good afternoon.... I can understand your concern and you've done a good job at trying to get to the bottom of this problem if you've narrowed it down to the transformer or the circuit board. I will forward your question to an expert who will investigate the matter further and get back to you. You will hear from them within two business days if not sooner. Until you hear from us, have a nice day.

I am sorry to hear that your television will not turn on and I would like to assist you. Does the television do anything? Is there a standby light on, or is it completely dead? Generally speaking, if the set is completely dead, it is usually the power supply. A main board failure will usually still have a standby light on. You referred to the transformer, if it is damaged or physically burned, the power supply as a whole should be replaced. I suggest having a trained television technician service your TV, use a reputable local service or follow this link: Sears Home Services to arrange a repair with a Sears technician.

Please reply with any other information that you may have and if there have been any test that you have performed.

Joseph, I used the Parts Direct site to call up the exploded parts diagram and select the two parts I ordered. The packing slips list the same numbers as on the diagram, but the two parts do not go together. Further, the base assembly that I received is a swivel base and the one depicted in the TV Owner's Manual is non-swiveling. There are four mounting holes in each piece for the screws that hold them together. These holes do not line up. The holes in the base assembly are closer together than the ones on the support. It is clear to me that these parts go to different stands. I can get by with mounting the support to the shelf and returning the base assembly. I just think that someone needs to verify that the parts in the base assembly bin in the warehouse are actually the parts that the manufacturer requires for this TV. If they are not they should be replaced with the correct ones so that someone else doesn't end up with the same problem.

LG parts can be slightly different for different model. Can you provide the model code that is on the back of the TV? The model you provided is the main model, but the model code will have a few more numbers and about 8-10 extra letters. This will help determine any difference in the model series.

Dusty, I had to give up and mount the support to the top shelf of my friend's TV cabinet to avoid having to undo the other work I had done in moving his TV's around within the rooms of his house. Since he lives about 45 miles away I won't be able to get any amplifying information until I visit him again, probably next month. He is not physically able to get to the back of the TV to obtain the information for me. That said, it seems odd to say that the parts can be slightly different since only one parts diagram comes up for that model number and the two parts on that diagram are what I ordered, but do not fit together. The pedestal part of the base assembly has a smaller diameter than the circular part of the support piece that is supposed to mount to it. The holes in the two pieces do not line up no matter how you rotate one or the other piece. At this point I am calling this done and going to request an RMA and send the base assembly back for a credit as it is clearly not the correct part to mate with the support. Thanks for your input.
