Q:

Amana washer does not spin NTW4750YQ0 Amana Washer

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your washer and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number ntw4750yq0 and the usual suspect for this problem is a bad lid switch. On this particular washer if the lid switch is bad then the motor will not run in spin or agitation. Here is a link that may help with additional troubleshooting. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Thank you for choosing ManageMyLife.com. I understand how important it is to have a properly working dryer. There are a few things that may have caused this issue. You may have a non-working switch. When you push the start switch and nothing happens and you do not hear the humming of the motor, this could be the cause.
I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link below to be taken to the page.
Push-to-Start Switch for Whirlpool Dryer Model # WED4750XQ0
If the motor is humming but it does not heat or tumble, you may want to check if the dryer motor is getting proper power voltage. If it is getting proper voltage, you may want to test the motor to see if it needs replacing.
SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

1. Unplug the dryer power cord from the electrical outlet.

2. Open the cover for the lint screen on the top of the appliance. Slide out the screen and remove the screws underneath with a screwdriver. If the screen on your model is built into the door portal, skip this step.

3. Use a flat-head screwdriver to raise the top corners of the appliance between the top and the front.

4. Grab the clip in each corner under the top, at the front, with pliers. Squeeze the clips to remove them. This releases the top from the front panel.

5. Extract the screws on the sides of the front panel and the bottom panel immediately below it.

6. Pull off the front panel. Unplug the door switch from the wires on the back of the panel. Push down on the bottom panel, and tilt upward from the bottom edge to remove this part. Now you can see the dryer motor on the right, at the bottom.

7. Pull the two wires off the motor terminals one at a time, making a note of where each wire connects. Each wire has a Y-shaped clip on the end that pulls off the motor.

8. Hold the two test rods on the multimeter to the motor terminals. Set the meter to "X1," which is the test for continuity. If the motor does not produce a reading or the meter display numbers flash endlessly, the dryer motor is burned out and must be replaced.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services
There are other causes why your dryer isn't starting such as the door switch. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and please include more symptoms if possible and I will be glad to assist you further. Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com.

Old Shaper/Router

A:

ManageMyLife.com is a great place to find your owner's manual for various products. I understand you are having some difficulties finding yours. Manufacturers stop producing manuals after ten years. This could be the cause of availability. Sometimes the expert can find one that is very similar to yours. You should hear back within two business days. If you are having a specific problem please submit your question on the existing tread by click on the reply box below for your expert.

Question number 2 addition: Shapers usually have a spindle on which to attach the cutters. So where is it on this one and what size cutters fit?

Thank you for your request for the manual on the bench top shaper.

I am sorry but since AMT is no longer in business it is very are to find information on this shaper.

The AMT counterpart to the Craftsman model 149.23910 is model AMT 4750.

I am sorry but I was unable to find a manual for either one of these models.

There are no parts available for this model.

Sam, Thanks for your answer but please clarify. 3. First, I don't even know who AMT is. Please explain. 4. Second, Craftsman does offer some parts for model 149.23910 from partsdirect. 5. So, to be more specific about my second question: on the parts diagram for 14923910 on the Sears website: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Router-Parts/Model-149239110/0247/0740000/00050747/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= Part 62 is a 1/4" collet for using a router bit. I have the collet and it is now in the machine. But the machine should have a spindle that fits in the same hole as the collet. I don't have that. Is it 35 on the diagram? 6. The base of the collet has a particular profile, which matches the socket/hole/depression in the machine. I suspect that this is a standard profile for 1/2 inch spindles. Can you tell me? If so I should be able to get a spindle from Grainger or some other machinery supply. Thank you. Please answer my questions by number.

Thank you for the update on the shaper. Sometimes I assume too much. I am sorry. 1. The manufacturer was a company called American Machine and Tool. 2. There are some parts that show to be available but may not be. 3. The collet #62 is also no longer available so I am glad that you already have one. 4. I think you are talking about the spindle stub parts key #35 in the picture. It is part number 4700-096-70. It however is no longer available. I do not think you can get that from WW Grainger but you can try. Thank you. Sam A.
