Q:

What part am I missing on my trolley assembly that makes it not re-engage after manually opening my garage door?

A:

I understand your concern toward finding out any parts that you may be missing on your garage door opener. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a link that will provide you with more information about your problem. I also found another link in where you can enter your model number and a parts list diagram will pop up. I hope my links are useful.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand that not having the door opener working properly can be a concern.

  • I do not think that a part is missing. If you have flipped the emergency release handle back the to the operating position it should reconnect with the trolley. In the release position the handle with the rope will be pointing to the floor. When it is flipped back to the horizontal position it should re-latch to the trolley.

  • However if you think a part may be missing, I would think it may be the trolley rack which the drive screw engages into and locks into the trolley.

It is a flat piece with grooves in it to match the thread on the screw drive.

Its part number is 81C168. I will send a picture of them both.

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

If you have anything missing it would be the key number seven in the picture. They usually do not fall out but can wear out and not catch. Make sure that the release lever is back in the locked position. Pointing toward the floor is open. Pointing towards the motor unit is closed. I hope the you will have it repaired soon.
