Q:

WED WACKER 15 INCH 172.745450

A:

Thank you for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

I am sorry to hear of the line issues you are experiencing with the line trimmer, I know how frustrating that is. I suspect that if too much line is advancing, the line in the spool in not wound properly or the cutting blade isn't cutting off the excess line as it should.

For convenience purposes, I have included an attachment below that you may click on to see the how the line should be wound in the spool. If you don't see the attachment, click here to be directed to ManageMyLife.com to see the attachment.

I also have a great article that you may review that covers troubleshooting, maintenance, and storage. Just click the blue link below to be directed to the page to view it.

Craftsman Trimmer Tips for Operation

Hopefully these will be of some help to you. The bump feed on the cutting head is what allows the line to come out, so if the line isn't wound properly or the blade isn't cutting the line, that could explain your issue. Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Check the part list of the owner's manual for No. 38 Spring GGT4502U-38. If this spring is absent the trimmer will not stop string advance. Also check that the spool U retainer does not drop off during operation of the trimmer. If this happens, you could lose this spring.

Craftsman Electric Weedwacker Model # 172.74545 Spool head Cover

A:

When i do get this pulled up on Parts Direct, I try to add the part to the cart and it won't do it. Said that staff has been notified. Also the part number on the website is different from that in my manual, and I am really tired of trying to find this thing.

Hi Erica,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

They do not tell us what size the screw is or the type of threads it has. You can take one of the other screws out and try to match it at a hardware store. Most hardware stores should have one that will match. Otherwise, you will need to order the screws.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to purchase the lid hinge mounting screws for your Kenmore model number 110.26924502 washer .

I hope this is helpful, and if I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.
