Q:

how to change door cam 79571309012 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your refrigerator cam shaft. I was not able to located the spring that you are asking about. The only part that I would find was the cam shaft itself. If the spring is not broken on the other one, then I would suggest you move it to the new one. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, please click on this link to schedule service: Sears Home Services. Click on "Get Started" and follow the directions, click on the red "NEXT" button to continue. I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. There are five parts that make up this part of the door. These include two stoppers, the busihing, the snap ring and the screw. If you still have the screw, do not lose it. It is specially made for this. From what you are decribing, however, it sounds like you need the other four parts. These are parts numbers: 4620JJ3006C, MJB63029901, 4984JJ3003A and 4350JA3005B. Please let me know if there is anything else you need. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I have had to either have this part repalced 3 times, and I am scheduled for another replacement, under a new warranty that I just purchased. But in order to replace the cam at the top of the door, you have to replace the whole door gasket, it is all connected together. I wathched how to do it on u-tube, and have done it my self, 2 times, once on each side. The whole gasket assembly cost over $100.00. for the right side and just under $100.00 for the left side, why I don't know, they are both the same size. My reifgerator is 1 year and 8 months old, and this will be the 4th time for replacing the cam, with the whole door gasket assembly. That is why I jus purchased an extended warranty, for if it keeps breaking every 3 to 4 months, it will be worth the price of the warranty,a nd I won't have to install it myself.

In my case, I had the cam flapper break off of the right door. You DO NOT have to buy a whole new gasket! It's the piece, called the holder gasket, that the cam mounts on, that broke. I bought a replacement part (#4930JJ2028A - right side holder gasket - $25) and googled "Fridge Right Door Gasket Replacement ?? LG Refrigerator Repair (Part #4987JJ2002S)" - the part number is wrong in my case BUT the YouTube video is VERY good and helpful. Hopefully you will still have the screw (not included with a new cam flapper - if needed) to attach the old cam flapper to the new holder gasket. Note the position of the parts on the holder gasket - I took phone pix. The old holder gasket slides off the removed gasket and you remove a bottom screw to release a rod holding everything in place. Reassemble with rod from bottom and attach the cam flapper from the top. Once you remove the gasket and see everything, all this will make sense. It took me about 15 min. I hope this helps you make the repair and save some money.

I can understand your frustration when the doors won't close properly. The information you have already received is correct about leveling the cabinet and using the top door hinges. The most common problem with doors sagging or not aligned properly is because the cabinet is not level. Follow the information listed in the owner's manual to level the cabinet and be sure to use a level. If the doors still sag, loosen the top hinges and try to make an adjustment as listed. If this still won't work, then the door will need to be shimmed up. There are some clips for this purpose. These clips # 4350JA3005B are available at SearsPartsDirect . See attached picture and instructions for installing these clips. I hope this will help you.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

stackable kenmore washer and dryer model #41799980120

A:

The replacement belt is between $43-50 plus shipping. If it is the motor too since the drier will not power up at all it seems more logical to just buy a replacement set when considering costs. What do you think?

Not having the convenience of your dryer can be frustrating. I researched your question and found someone was experiencing similar problems with their dryer. An expert posted a general answer as to why this may happen. I also included the Sears.com website so you can compare prices of dryers and find one that best fits your budget. Another suggestion I have is to provide more specific details this will help an expert better diagnose the problem and provide you with a better answer. Just add to this thread. I hope this helps!

From the description you give the drum is not tumbling but I'm less clear on if the motor is running.

The belt is the first thing to check. There are a couple of different access points where the belt can be checked. The top of the dryer can be removed and the belt can be visually checked.

The best view point is obtained by removing the small square panel on the back of the unit. This allows motor and belt access.

If the 5304439725 belt is off or burnt then a do-it-yourself belt change would be next. The belt, or any part, can be obtained from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

If it will not power up at all then checking the circuit breaker would be first thing to check.

If everything is completely dead then it is likely a volt/ohm meter will be needed to determine what is wrong. If you don't have a meter or know how to use one then I would suggest a technician check this dryer.

What's curious about this problem is that a shoe shouldn't have caused this type of problem.

Check the belt and reply with any additional detail for further assistance.

Ok, update folks. The motor is running and the heating element works. The inability of the drier is that the drum will not tumble. It just stays in place. Secondly, I tried to get to the belt or what I thought it was from the inside as there are four screws. I loosened something by loosening it-the heating element? and found that I could not get into anything from the inside of the drier. I moved the unit away from the wall and it pulled off the return hose to the washer. It seems like it is corroded and needs replaced or at least the part that runs off the washer. Is this piece easy to replace? I tried putting a bucket down below as I tried to do a load and water ended up everywhere. Also it looks as though on that back side there are a couple vents I could open by undoing some screws but not sue which one so I could get the drum repaired? I do have a manual and the washer/drier set were purchased in 1991 and the model number for them is 41799980120. Thanks!
