Q:

What's causing my 42lg30 lcd tv to make a buzzing sound? 42LG30 Lg Lcd television

A:

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your TV not working properly. We are here to help. Based on the symptom, I suspect a problem is developing in the power supply. The usually source of buzzing noises is transformers. If the transformer have a bad connection, it can vibrate causing the noise or there may be some bad capacitors causing the transformer to vibrate. Unless you had training in electronics, I recommend scheduling service. This way the TV will be fixed properly without additional problems. I hope this helps.

If you do not feel comfortable repairing this problem yourself or if it is under warranty, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears Technician. You may visit SearsHomeServices.com and follow the instructions, then click on the red next now button.

The part number you provide is the main board. Please be aware that this board might not be for your model. There is a 7 digit code after you model that make the service model number. The 7 digit code that goes to this part number is AUSPLHR. There might be different 7 digit codes and they would require a different main board.

The main board sits under a metal shield that should be held in with a few screws. That needs to be removed and then some additional screws holding the main board in place and about 4 connectors on the board. I d not have a detailed picture of the board to see the lay out and style of connectors.

Note: Working on TV can be difficult due to the high voltage circuits inside. Always remember to unplug any TV before trying to work on it.

I talked to Sears on the phone, and they told me they could not stock the part I needed, per LG. It is $188 from LG direct, however they won't sell to an individual. You have to get an authorized dealer to order. I am up to about $400 after ordering the part and having it installed. I will probably just buy another TV, NOT an LG after this.
