Q:

Change a Kohler motor, how do I re-wire it.

A:

I found the engine model number going by the Craftsman model number. The Kohler model number is cv16s-43520. I was not able to find information on rewiring the motor. Your expert will be able to help answer your question. It may take two business days. I do hope that everything works out on the mower.

Thank you for your question. I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the wiring diagram for the Craftsman tractor and posted it below. I tried to look up the diagram for the John Deere but did not have any luck finding that model number. If you could, please double check the model number of the John Deere and post it below. It also might be helpful if you post the model numbers of both engines. Once I have that, I should be able to tell you how to wire it. I hope to hear from you.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Les here, Thank you mark, I don't see the wiring diagram, but this all I could get off the John Deer: Model No.# CV15S, Spec No.# 41594, Serial No.# 2929500361, Family# YKHXS.4262GB, DISPL (cc) 426. I hope this helps. The reason for this is that I got this John Deer from a friend of mine but the motor had a thrown rod in it and it damaged the motor. I have a Craftsman with the same kind of Kohler motor in it only it is a 16.5hp and runs good. I want to put it in the John Deer (the motors have the same bolt pattern) but the wiring plugs are different. As stated, the John Deer only has one wire plug to connect but the Craftsman has two wire plugs to connect to the motor. I want to know what wires to use to connect from the motor from the craftsman to the John Deer frame. I hope that you can understand what I am trying to do. Thank you, Les.

Les, Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I was out of the office a few days. I posted an image below that contains the wiring diagram for the engine you are installing. Just click on the image to enlarge it. The white wire from the engine is the kill wire. The black wire or the wire from the center terminal on the regulator is the charging wire. It should be connected to a wire that goes to the battery. The double red wine is for the spark advance module and the fuel solenoid. These wires should be supplied with 12 volts when the key is turned to the start and run position. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Mark

Q:

Connecting light fixture to backwall of workbench.

A:

Getting parts delivered that don't seem to fit together can be frustrating. I checked the Sears Parts Direct link below for this workbench back and the light there shows a different number. Substitutions are made however so the expert will help sort this out. I also attached the online manual for the workbench below if you would like to make sure it is the same as yours. The expert will respond within 24-48 hours if not sooner.
