Which coil on my gas valve is bad when my Kenmore dryer shows flame then clicks off?

A:

It may be that neither coil is the problem. You could have a venting issue that is causing this problem.

If the flame comes on and clicks right off the first thing I recommend is to remove the dryer vent and run it with a medium load and see if the flame stays on longer. NOTE: This is a temporary test for a gas dryer. A gas dryer should always be properly vented to the outside of the home. Following this temporary test, be sure to properly reassemble the vent system to the outside of the home.

A restricted vent may cause the flame to stay on only a few seconds.

It doesn't matter which coil is bad. The coils come together and are not available separately. The part number is 5303931775 for both coils and is available from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .
