I know that this has be very inconvenient for you. The brownish/black grease in the washer is most like because of a build-up in the fabric softener dispenser. This does need to be cleaned out at least once a month. You will need to pry the cap off the dispenser with a flat head screw driver. Once this is off, you can pull the dispenser cup straight out. Be sure to wash both the cup and the inside of the agitator with HOT water. This will remove any build-up. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread.
