Question and Answers

Q:

Dryer heats then quits heating. 41797912702 Kenmore Laundry center

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dryer does not heat properly.

There are two other thermostats that would need to be tested.

134120900 this is the high limit thermostat.

134048800  this is the control thermostat that regulates the temperature.

Click here for testing of other parts on your dryer.

This should show you what other parts you should test.

There is also a temperature control board that is connected near the heater.

I recommend a technician take a look at the unit to determine what to replace. We have gone through all the parts that could make your unit not keep heat.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

How do I disable the end of cycle buzzer on my model 417.97912702 dryer?

A:

The buzzer can be disabled by accessing it in the console as shown in the 1st image below. The 2nd image contains the wiring for the buzzer and it may be helpful to you in resolving this problem.

Remember to unplug the laundry center first from power.

The buzzer can be disabled by removing or cutting one of the wires to the buzzer. If you cut the wire you should use a wire nut and electrical tape to cover the bare end of the wire.

If you don't feel comfortable cutting wires with the laundry center unplugged another trick is to use chewing gum to cover the speaker on the buzzer to mute the sound.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details for futher assistance.

A:

The image for accessing the electrical is too small to be useful. I have had the slanted panel off but not sure what the procedure is to access the electrical controls. Do the knobs and knob panel end caps need to come off as well to pull out the electrical subpanel?
