Q:

how do I get moor out of blower housing? 41791142000 Kenmore Dryer

A:

This failure could be caused by a friction problem that is preventing the drum from turning freely or it could be caused by a failed drive motor. The motor is apparently overheating and clicking off on overload. When it cools down, it will attempt to start again. The normal troubleshooting first involves removing the belt from the drive motor and then running the dryer to see if the motor will stay running (even though the drum will not turn). The first image below shows how to remove the rear service panel on the dryer. Unplug the dryer and remove this panel. Remove the belt from the pulley of the motor and position it out of the way. Pay close attention to how it was routed on the motor pulley so that you can replace it properly. Plug the dryer back in and see if it continues to run with this belt removed from the motor pulley. If the motor stops in the same manner then it will need to be replaced. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the motor is 131560100.

If the motor will continue to run with the belt removed from the motor pulley, then a friction problem is causing your failure. The second image below shows access information for the dryer. You can lift the top panel and manually spin the drum to check for the source of the friction. Check the front felt drum glides. You may need to disassemble the dryer further and check the ball hitch bearing on the back of the drum. Replace parts as needed to eliminate the friction problem. I have included a video that will give you an idea how to do the repair.

I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.

Q:

DIMENSIONS NEEDED FOR 417.91142000 KENMORE DRYER

A:

Specific dimensions are usually not provided in the installation guides.   Most dryers would be 27 inches wide and 38 inches high unless a pedestal is used.  Front to Back will be 31.5 inches.  You will want some clearances for you should have 28 inches.

Thank you for the quick response! Can you clarify what you meant by, 'You will want some clearances for you should have 28 inches' since the depth you gave me for the unit itself was 31.5"? Thanks!
