Q:

dr error message 41791102000

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I understand how frustrating it can be to have an error code prevent your dryer from starting. The DR code can mean that the door isn't closed or that the door switch is faulty. Check the door switch to make sure that the connections are in tact before replacing the part. I have included instructions on the image below on how to access your door switch. If you are viewing this response on Sears PartsDirect and are unable to view the image, copy and paste the following web address to a seperate internet browser:

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services
I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link below to be taken to the page.

Q:

Installation Cycle selecting 41791102000 Kenmore Elite Dryer

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If you have already plugged the dryer in and ran it without performing the installation cycle, then I do not think it will go into the "Installation Cycle. The "Installation Cycle may have already be performed prior.

If the dryer is running and operating properly, there is no need to attempt to get the unit into the "Installation Cycle".

If you insist on trying to place the unit into the "Installation Cycle", you will need to continue trying.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thanks for your reply. The "Use & Care Guide" says to "Repeat the Install Cycle...", so I would say it should be repeatable whenever I want by following the sequence?? Is there an updated or alternate sequence I could try that may not have been printed for this unit by mistake? Since it is computer controlled, I can't be sure that it is functioning as it should be especially when I can't initiate the test cycle. I unplugged it for hours, and turned off the gas too. I still could not get the install cycle, and I ran it with gas turned off in two different cycles for over 10 minutes each, and it never stopped or told me that there was no gas.

Tim: It say's "Repeat the Install Cycle when corrections are completed". Meaning after a fault or error code is displayed and after the repair has been made then repeat the Install Cycle to confirm proper operation. There are no new steps or instructions for placing the unit into the Install Cycle. Even the trainer had a difficult time putting it in the "Install Cycle" when he was here giving training. Again, you will need to continue trying. If the dryer is functioning properly, I would not waste too much time attempting to place the dryer into the Install Cycle. I wish you luck.
