Thanks James, that article was helpful. Since my washer/dryer unit is 10 yrs old I want to confirm that the length of pipe needed to pump the water up to the drain pipe from the washer won't be too long and stress out the internal pump in my washer. We've had so many problems with the pump under the utility sink it would just be fantastic to tie the washer directly into the drain pipe instead of going through the pump.

I know that it is very important to have the right information for your washer. However, the pump on a washer can not drain that high. If the drain pipe (line) is more than 8 feet, the pump will not work. It is best to leave it draining into the sink. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

The drain pipe is 5 feet above where the water is coming out the back of the washer so would 5 feet be ok for it to pump up to? My plumber wanted to know if my washer's internal pump is strong enough, he couldn't tell by the manual I have on it. By looking up my model # can you tell if the pump can handle pumping water up 5 feet?

Thank you for your patience. This height will be alright to use, but it's possible that the drain will be slow. The best recommended height is 3 feet. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I was wondering if Kenmore made a front loader stackable washer that has a strong enough pump that could pump the water up 5 feet to the pipe that could take the water over to the drain? Please read above to see how my current washing machine is set up. My goal is to get a new washer that won't need the pump we have set up now (the pump keeps having issues and we've had leaks and flooding from it). I would love to just have our washer hooked up to the drain pipe directly and not have to use an external pump.
