How do I replace the belt on my Kenmore dryer model 417.94702300? 41790812992 Kenmore Laundry center

A:

A dryer is an appliance we depend on so much, when there's laundry to be done. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful. Have a nice day!

Thank you for submitting your question. I know having these instructions are important and I will be happy to assist you. To replace the dryer belt follow these instructions:

  1. Disconnect the dryer from the electrical power source.
  2. Remove back panel and plenum.
  3. Remove the motor and blower assembly enough to allow the belt to pass the blower assembly. Two bolts underneath the motor hold it to the base pan of the dryer, removing these bolts will let you slide the motor back enough that you can slide the new belt between the blower and the blower housing.
  4. Lift the drum to slip the belt past the support rollers.
  5. Line the belt up on the wear ring on the tub where the old belt was running. You need to bend the spring on the idler puller so that when the belt is on the motor pulley the spring is pushing the idler pulley against the back of the belt and causing it to be tight.

I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Tykara, Thank you for the detailed reply. I'll give it a try this weekend. Hopefully the new belt will arrive by then. I started to disassemble the dryer from the front but will switch to the rear per your instructions. Thanks again.

Tykara I found some detailed photos attached in other threads but they appear to be low resolution resulting in them being illegible when I try to view them or print.. Are high resolution versions available? I've disassembled both front and rear, have the new belt (#137292700) on the drum and around the motor pulley but there is a LOT of slack and I can't figure out how to make it tight. Thanks in advance for your help.

Aruthur, we're experiencing difficulties with our images. We currently working on fixing that. I apologize for the inconvenience. If the belt is installed correctly there should be no slack. The first link below is a real life image of what the install should look like. The second link below is a belt replacement video on a stand alone dryer but it should help you route the belt properly. That will be the same. Start the video at 5:47. I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist further.
