417.88042700 Error code instructions 41788042700 Kenmore Dryer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dryer is not working properly.

You will need to count how many times they blink. I have attached the information to read the error codes.
I have also attached the error code sheet so you can locate your error code and what it means.

READING ERROR CODES
1. Non-Digital Readout Display Models: Rotate cycle selector knob to the 3 O’clock position.
Digital Readout Display Models: Rotate cycle selector knob clockwise (3) settings from the Normal cycle option.
2. Press and hold the Select and Pause Cancel buttons simultaneously for six seconds.
3. Immediately after, press and hold the START and Pause Cancel buttons simultaneously for 4 seconds.
4. Digital Readout Display Models: rotate the timer knob (1) click counterclockwise. The error code will appear in the digital display.
Non-Digital Readout Display Models: rotate the cycle selector knob to the 2 O’clock position. The four indicator lights of Drying, Cool Down, Wrinkle Rid (Press Saver), and Clean Lint Filter will flash the number of times for the first digit of the code and the START indicator light will flash the number of times for the second digit. Take separate counts of each indicator light, then repeat to confirm in order to be accurate in identifying the proper error code. The code is obtained by counting the number of times the lights flash. Example E24: The four indicator lights would flash twice indicating the 2
and the START indicator light will flash four times indicating the 4. The four indicator lights and the START indicator light start flashing at the same time. The control will pause for 2 seconds, then repeat the code.
 NOTE: A letter appearing in the code stands for a number higher than nine. A = 10 B = 11 C = 12 D = 13 E = 14 F = 15
Example Code E4A: the first digit would be 4 and the second digit would be 10. If this code would appear on a washer in the Non-Digital Readout Display Models, the four indicator lights would blink four times and the START indicator light would blink ten times. Troubleshoot the problem by using the chart below.
To move on to the next code, press the OPTIONS button.
To clear code, press the Select button. Code will be cleared when mode is exited.
To exit this mode, simultaneously press and hold the Select and Pause Cancel buttons for six seconds.

Dryer running rough 41788042700 Kenmore Dryer

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your washer. Upon researching model 41788042700; it could be the belt is loose or worn out. The drum rides on the front lip. There is felt that could have worn out and is letting the drum rub the cabinet lip. The best thing to do is look inside the unit for worn out or damaged parts.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

I inspected the unit, but there is nothing I can see that could cause this vibration and noise. The belt looks to be in good condition. The tension arm functions and does not vibrate. The motor vibrates a little, but the mounts seem intact. The seal in the front I haven't been able to get to see yet. I'm at a loss here. The unit does sit on tip of the washer, so vibration as a result of the spin cycle could play a role. Any other ideas? Please help. Thanks!

What purpose doe the LOCK-FAN HOU (part number 131435200) have? This vibration that is causing the dryer to run rough seems to be caused by the motor. The belt is fine, the tension assembly is fine, but I can minimize the vibration and noise by pushing on the bracket that holds the motor shaft. We noticed the FAN-LOCK HOU is loose behind the motor. Is it supposed to be keeping the motor from vibrating? Please help! Thanks! Mike
