Q:

dyer problem 41787042700 Kenmore Dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the dryer.

First thing for safety and concerns to keep dryer running well is to check the lint screen and vent of air flow going out of the house.   If clogged up it could cause heating problems on any dryer.

To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:

1.  Clean any lint blockage from the exhaust vent hood.
2.  Make sure the vent hood flappers move freely.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Dryer model number 417.87042700.

There are 3 things to check first and you can verify all if you have something like an OHM meter.

On the back side of the dryer is an item like a fuse called a "thermal Limiter" it is key number 6 on the link below.

Have to make sure the door is closed really good.   There is a door switch key number 26 and door catch key number 25 and 49.

Hello,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

The thermal limiter is on the back wall (upper left hand corner). The safety thermostat is on the heater housing. The control thermostat is on the front of the blower housing. Here is a video that will demonstrate disassembling your dryer; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. This video is for demonstration purposes only. This dryer may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same. Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
