My Kenmore dryer, model No. 417.79042990 doesn't heat - it's stacked and in an alcove. I believe the coils are shot.

Hi Marc: I checked that q&a before asking my question. It explained how to "pop" the top. The coils are in the front of the machine (front left) and no way to access them from the top. It doesn't look like the back comes off at all. It's welded to the sides. I guess because it's a stacking model the most logical way to fix it is from the front.

Here is a video that shows how to access and replace the gas burner valve coils in this type of dryer: Dryer Valve Coil Replacement . That front panel will have to be removed on your dryer to access those coils.

That link for a previous answer that Jackie S. posted in the above response has some good information and tips. Your exact dryer is slightly different than the one shown in that answer. I provided some images of the access procedures for your dryer below this response. This information may help you if you need to open the cabinet and check the ball hitch bearing and the other components in your dryer. Be sure that you unplug the dryer and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components. You can also check for an accumulation of lint in the cabinet. If the dryer is running on LP gas, make sure that it was properly converted from natural gas to the LP gas configuration.
