If you can manually advance the timer to the spin cycle & the washer spins you will need to replace the motor speed control board. Here is a link covering the repair.

The discharge pump on my washing machine works, but it does not turn off and go to the next cycle. What might be wrong?

If the washer will not spin in any cycle several tests will need to be performed with a meter.

Please see the image in the attachment below for the no spin troubleshooting tips.

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

Q:

Why won't my Kenmore washer spin at the normal speed after moving it?

A:

If you installed shipping bolts to move the washer, make sure that these were removed properly.

You could have a loose wire connection on between the control and the motor control unit. If you are able to unplug the washer and remove the lower front service panel, you can check the wiring connections on the motor control unit. If you do not feel completely confident in your technical ability to safely access internal washer components, then I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair the washer.

To remove the bottom service panel, follow these steps:

  • Unplug the washer to completely disconnect electrical power.
  • Remove the screws at the very bottom of the front service panel.
  • Pull the service panel down and off of the washer.
The motor control unit will be on the bottom of the washer attached to the right side panel. If you cannot reach it through the bottom front access panel, you may need to remove the back panel to access the wiring harness connections.

If you cannot find any problems with the wire harness connections to the motor control unit, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair the washer.
