Thank you for your question on the Charbroil/Kenmore grill.

From all that you have done the only thing I can think of is the true infrared burners are not working correctly. This is hard to believe that all three burners would be a problem at the same time.

If the side burner has a good flame then we know that the pressure is okay from the tank.

Since you have blown air through the burners and the manifold and through the valves I do not know what more you can do to remedy the problem.

Since the burners have a ten years warranty I would suggest replacing the burners. If you have a receipt for the grill you can call 1-800-241-7548 Charbroil and with that receipt they will send you new burners for the price of shipping.

I hope this will be of some help.

I purchased the flex hose specifically for my grill, but do I need different burners or orifices as well?

When you did the conversion on your grill, was there a specific conversion kit you used? If so, do you have the number to that kit? Also, if you can double check the model number you provided I would appreciate it. The number you gave is not coming up as a valid model.

You can reply back to me directly on this thread.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

Wade, thanks for your reply. I mistyped the model number: 415.16650900 The conversion hose number: 4539937 it's simply a piece of flex hose with a quick-connect for the gas line on one end and a threaded female connector on the other which connected directly to the gas/burner tube. This was the "conversion kit" that was listed for the grill on the website (link attached). When I turn on the gas, I can hear/smell it flowing, but it seems the volume of gas is too low and I can't get the burners to light. I even took the grill and deflector plate off and held a flame directly to the burner holes with the gas on - nothing. I was able to get the side burner to light but the gas flow seemed to be so low that only about half or the circumference of the round burner held a flame - a low flame at that. any thoughts? thanks! Jason

go to the link I attached below. On page 12 the conversion is talked about. I show there should have been a few pieces with the conversion kit. The main thing it needed to have was an orifice to work with the gas. Basically, LP gas is much more flammable than NG is. Because of this, when a grill is set up for LP the orifice has a very small hole so the LP gas can be "tamed" down a bit. When you convert over to NG that orifice has to be changed. If it's not, the orifice is taming down a gas that is naturally "tamed" down when compared to LP gas. Bottom line is that if you only received the hose then you did not get a complete kit. Without the orifice for NG, the flames will never get as high as they need to and the grill won't get up to the right temperature for cooking.

Wade, thanks. That's the problem - when I ordered the "kit",all that they sent me was the hose. I didn't receive the NG orifices, orifice tool or the NG bezels. I'll follow up with them to get the whole kit. Thanks again! Jason

I believe the part numbers for the orifice and other stuff are listed in that link I sent you. Part numbers for just those items. You may want to give them those numbers in case they say something along the lines of "the kit is just the hose". Let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you. I'm sure you're ready to get some meat on the grill since it's football season and it won't be long before it's too cold out to be grilling. Have a great weekend.

Yeah, just "chatted" with a Sears parts direct associate and that's exactly what he said, along with "a licensed technician is required to install those parts". Although it's a Kenmore grill, I noticed that the link you sent was a Charbroil manual. Perhaps I'll need to order the orifices and bezels through Charbroil. Thanks again!

Charbroil manufactures that grill for us. I should have mentioned that so it wouldn't cause any confusion.

Q:

Bought a Kenmore Infrared grill (Model 415.16657900), Can I convert this grill from Infrared cooking to a regular grill by changing the plates?

A:

There is not a way to safely convert this grill to the old fashioned type that you are describing in your details. I do not recommend that you try to replace the burners.

I have a Kenmore gas grill Model # 415.16650900 with Infrared cooking. Why does my grill cook at such high temps? When I cook on high it cooks at 700 degrees and low at 400-500 degrees.
