Kenmore gas dryer 402 99032010 40299032010 Kenmore Dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the dryer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Gas Dryer model number 40299032010.

First thing for safety and concerns to keep dryer running well is to check the lint screen and vent of air flow going out of the house.   If clogged up it could cause heating problems on any dryer.

To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:

1.  Clean any lint blockage from the exhaust vent hood.
2.  Make sure the vent hood flappers move freely.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed.

Next, I would turn off the breaker for the dryer and leave it off for 3 to 5 minutes.  This sometimes will allow the control board to reset itself.

There are a few items that could of got wet and cause trouble for the dryer.  There is the motor itself which has a motor switch on it.

This is a gas dryer.  The ignitor is at the bottom and could cause the ignitor not to light.

There are thermostat on the back of the blower fan.  One is called a thermistor key number 1-1 and the other is a thermostat fuse which is key number 1-2.   Both are key items to starting and heating.

I have at the bottom a link to show you the location of the thermostats.   The igntior is at the very bottom and easy to see.   All of these items you can take a multimeter and check for continuity.

I have the same model kenmore front loading gas dryer. Mine did not get wet. It simply stopped. The pwer switch turns it on. The door sensor tells me whether the door is open or ready. But when i push the start button, it just goes cleck. The vent is fine, recently cleaned. I will try to unplyug it and replug it to see if it will reset. If it does not, what do you suggest next? Thank you.

Definitely understand your concern in having a properly working dryer in your home, I will be glad to assist you. What you can be experiencing an issue with the main control board, wiring, or the motor. I recommend checking the wiring harness connection to the main control board. The image below will instruct you on how to access the main control board on your dryer. You'll want to make sure there aren't any loose connections and that everything is secure. If the the wiring connection is secure, then voltage checks will need to be made on the wiring harness and the motor. This is usually performed by a technician. I recommend scheduling for service to have a technician check the electrical on the dryer. You can schedule for service online with our Sears Home Services team. If you need further assistance, please reply to the thread below with details. I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing Manage My Life.
