Q:

replacing thermocouple 400DVX-R NAT Williams Wall furnace

A:

Thank you for your question. Replacing a thermocouple can be a challenge. The pilot assembly where the thermocouple is connected to on this model is, attached to the burner. If you cannot get to the pilot assembly then the burner will probably need to be pulled out. Most thermocouples will push down out of the pilot assembly but some will have a nut holding it in place. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, if you can send a picture of the pilot assembly and burner, it would be very helpful and I will assist you further.  If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the pilot light. The parts listed may possibly solve the problem but it could also be due to the location of the vent. I would recommend having a technician check this, before replacing several parts that may not solve the problem. I'm listing a site you can access to have a tech come out.
