My top rack just fell out and I found both the front and rear wheels have broken plastic tabs. My dishwasher is only two years old! I bought this brand/model because Consumer Reports rated it well. It is unacceptable to me that a part that gets so much use is made of cheap plastic. I shouldn't have to buy two new assemblies at $40+ each. Same problem as other customers have noted. This is a manufacturing defect!

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com. I know how frustrating it is to have a garage door opener not functioning correctly, hopefully I can help.

Due to safety regulations I can not instruct you how to bypass the sensors. Even though you are the one bypassing them, Sears and I can be held liable for any injury or damage caused from bypassing them. It is a problem that the safety sensors are out of alignment, but being out of alignment, the door should still want to move slightly up or down and then reverse.

You should be able to override the sensor circuit temporarily by holding the wall control button continuously until the door reaches the closed position. The remotes will not override the sensors since it is not certain someone would be in clear sight of the door to confirm it is safe to close at that time. The override should only be used for emergency situations however, and we would recommend that you do not use a garage door opener without working safety sensors. However, if you have no operation at all from wall control or remotes, it could be something else.

I'm curious to know whether you hear the motor trying to work inside the unit when you hit the wall control or the remotes. The wall controls are typically hard wired, and if yours is, we can rule out the logic board. It almost sounds as if we have an issue with the nylon gears inside the unit or with the motor itself. If you do hear the motor within the unit, that's a good sign it is a gear issue rather than a motor issue, but if the motor is not working, it could be seized.

Disconnect the power to the opener and remove the outer cover. Inspect the nylon gears for wear. Restore the power and start the opener. If the gears are turning but not moving the trolley, the gears need to be replaced.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

G, by pressing and holding the wall button you will over ride the sensors and the door should close then just pressing and releasing the wall button should open the door the sensors are only for closing the door not opening it. if you hit the wall button and release it the main lights should flash 10 times letting you know it is a sensor issue. if the door won't close holding the wall button in and all you get is a click from the opener it would most likely be the logic board. there is a small led light by the learn button it is a diagnostic light and should be flashing a code from 1 - 6 flashes then pause and repeat over and over see it you have a flash code. and post back with the code or if the door will close holding the wall button in or not. you can also try a reset by unplugging the opener for 30 min. then plug it back in and try it again and look for the flash code.

Leaking gas cap 247374320 Craftsman Mower

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issues you've had with the Kohler engine's fuel cap. I know how inconvenient that is to have happen.

I don't see any issue with the fuel cap from the manufacturer. I've seen instances where the fuel caps can warp slightly from heat or direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time, which would make them difficult to take off or thread on. It's hard to say where the issue is stemming from, but I believe a replacement fuel cap will solve the issue for you.

For convenience, I have linked a replacement cap for the engine below. Just click the link to be directed to the Sears Parts site to purchase when needed.

A relative that owns this same model has this issue, leaking from the filler cap with the cap fully locked in place. Inspection of the filler neck opening found that it is oval in shape, and not round. This was confirnpmed by measurements. The oval shape makes it very difficult to get the gas cap on, and the oval shape also means the rubber gasket in the cap won't completely seal with the filler neck. This is where the gas is leaking from. The oval shape of the fuel tank filler neck is probably due to a problem during the moulding of the fuel tank. Leaking gasoline is a serious safety issue that needs to be fixed. I'd like to find out if it is possible to get a new tank to replace the defective one.

I can confirm the warping of the fill mouth of the gas tank. This is my third season with my Craftsman (Kohler Courage) mower and the gas now flows quite visibly down from the gas cap during mowing. The cap itself had become increasingly difficult to put on and upon inspection, the cap and o-ring are in great shape, but the mouth of the tank opening is visibly warped into an oval, so much so that the cap o-ring no longer mates to the mouth surface for a good seal. My neighbor purchased the identical mower on my recommendation and upon asking, his has also begun to leak gas from the cap!! I expect Sears/Kohler will rectify this annoying and dangerous manufacturer defect. Please respond as to what steps should be taken and thanks in advance.

I am also having this problem my mower also has a noticeable oval shaped opening where the cap goes on which clearly as mentioned by Doug will not allow the undamaged o-ring to seal properly and living in this mountainous region where I have hills throughout my yard I continually lose large amounts of fuel out of my mower. This issue needs addressed immediately because we're just getting into summer and as the temperature rises the risk of an accidental fire/explosion resulting in injury and or death is more probable. Not to mention the EPA's take on the matter of fuel dripping off the mower into the environment where the owner does'nt notice the issue and it isn't taken care of. This matter needs taken care of immediately.

Expert Lyle W, I to have this same freezer and my situation is identical to the person who posted on May 30, 2014 about a recall or solution! Researching this freezer on the Sears website, there was an amazing 58% of the people who had purchased this freezer that are facing the exact same problem! I took your advice and called this number your gave, only to be connected to the Spanish speaking customer service. I asked her to please speak English, which she did. She told me flat out, you bought it, it's out of warranty, Sears will do nothing for you. I explained about my food loss, as well as my service call fee of $75 I had to pay to a local serviceman to come out, because Sears had no one available for an emergency call! She told me nothing will be done, I told her of the many people who had the same issue and she again said Sears will do nothing, is there any other questions you have. I asked to speak to someone in management, and she stated that I had reached as far as this will go, she was the end of the line. I'm just sick.... Also when I initially called with the part # and ordered it, Sears sent me a thermostat instead. I have just returned it 2 days ago. I am waiting to see if they credit me back my 40$ for the part, they did credit back the 20$ overnight shipping that they chose to ship it by! I have bought ALL of my Kenmore appliances through Sears, most recently a dishwasher at over $400. This is bad business, poor customer care and frankly a complete rip off! In looking at the complaints they go back into 2011! Why wasn't it stopped being sold? Why would they stop making the parts that we need to rectify the situation? This makes no sense. I'm done with Sears. They knew this products history when they sold it to me, and continued to sell it, only now its a different model #. Buyer Beware!

Nothing could be salvaged. Like the others, I'm officially done with Kenmore. I have always trusted the brand, but this was a painfully expensive lesson learned. I lost at least $500 worth of food, $100 of which, I just bought last week. :(

We all depend on a working air compressor to get projects done.

I see you have checked the reeds and rings. Did you also listen and feel for air leaks? Check to see if air is coming back out of the intake filter. If air is coming back out of the intake filter, the tank check valve is the problem. See key #57 in the image below for the check valve location. If you feel air coming out of the intake when it is running  the valve plate is broken. Also check the tubing connections to the pump and the tank. When you had the head off to check the reeds, did the pressure plate and seal to verify it stays positioned?  If it not closing tight enough to seal, it is leaking out instead going into the tank. If that checks good, inspect the piston and cylinder.  If parts are needed, you can order here; Sears Parts Direct.  If further help is needed, please reply.  Thank you for using manage My Life.

I have the same compressor, not sure of the exact model number, but same basic machine. Several months to a year ago mine stopped building pressure. It ran fine, but never built more than a few pounds of pressure. Yesterday I finally got around to looking for a solution as to why it developed this problem. At first I thought it was a lack of oil and I might have fried a seal. not the case. Here is what I found. I pulled the cylinder head P/N 5 off the compressor. Checked for bent or damaged reed valves, but they were fine. I did notice a blue material on them and on other parts such as P/N 8. I used BrakeKleen to clean the parts. Sprayed some cleaner into the chambers of the cylinder head and rolled the head around allowing the fluid to touch the gasket between the head and valve plate. Found the gasket was leaking. From years of use the plate and head were both stuck to the gasket, so using a hammer and thin screwdriver I carefully separated the plate and head. The thin piece of gasket that seals between the two valve chambers was gone. Turns out the blue material was the gasket, which was blue in color. How or why a section of gasket went missing, I cannot say. I proceeded to remove and clean what was left of the gasket using a gasket scraper on both the head and valve plate. I then used a heavier duty gasket maker (though I would think RTV gasket maker/Blue Goo would work as well) and applied a bead of sealant in the same area the original gasket covered. I put everything back together and tightened the bolts according to the manual, fired the compressor up and immediately built pressure in the tank. Before I dug that deep into the issue, I followed testing steps as outlined by the comments here and on other sites for this device. I wanted to share my solution as many other point to the reed valves & check valves or blown head gaskets. Though mine was a bad gasket, I could not tell until I took it apart since it was blown inside the head.

I looked at videos and tech support info to find out why it wasnt building air. I bought a gasket set and new compressor piston and replaced them, put it back together and it started it up. It pressured up to about 40 lbs again and wouldn't go passed that. I took off the head again to check to see if there were any cracks I didn't see earlier but it was fine. So I decided to start it up to see if its leaking passed something I didnt notice or a tank leak. While running the compressor I felt from the head going down the discharge tube going to the tank and I kept feeling air. I couldn't tell if it was air from the fan which is right by it or something else. So I decided to get some soap water and sprayed the tube. Come to find that that there was a hairline slit on the elbow of the discharge tube where the soap water began bubbling up. When I took it off, I could see the small slit as well as a 1" slit along the side of the tube. I missed it earlier because the fan is next to the tube and it blows air towards the tube. If it wasn't for the soap water, I probably wouldn't have found it.

Q:

oven heats up slowly MGR4451BDW Maytag Maytag cooking

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the oven.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Maytag model number mgr4451bdw.

Sounds like your oven ignitor is coming on but taking to long to heat up.   The first thing is the ignitor.   Even though it is loading and firing, there just doesn't sound to be enough spark there to have it come on fully to do the baking that is called for.  I would pull out the ignitor and test it.

How to test the ignitor:

1.  Lower the door all the way down.   May have to remove the hinges so be careful.  The ignitor will be on the back bottom side of the oven.  Usually a cylindar/oblong piece and has a metal covering.  2 wires on the back side with ceramic wire nuts.

2.   Turn the gas on and wait for the ignitor to start glowing.  If it takes more than 2 minutes to do then needs to be replaced.

3.  If it is coming on then look and see if it is a dull orange/reddish flame.  The probablility is that  there is no longer enough current flowing through.  Then ignitor needs to be replaced.

4:  The ohms should read anywhere from 20 to 40 ohms

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com
