Q:

I have this electric air cleaner on my 600 series furnace. The model #of furnace isn't anywhere. I need the model# for furnace for replacement parts. 38783100 Kenmore Sears electronic air cleaner

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

Unfortunately, the model number for the air cleaner of 38783100 does not cross reference back to the furnace. Based upon the series of 600, and the date of 1972 provided, I was able to find a similar model that fits that category. The model number for the furnace is 867.736334. However, the blower motor on this particular model has since been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase. The part number was 505766. That will more than likely be the case for your model as well.

The best thing we can recommend is to take the motor to an electrical supply house that sells motors locally and see if you can match it up. You could also take a look at the unit for a model starting with 867. The model I've located will more than likely use the same blower motor as I've mentioned above.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

I can understand your concern about the clicking noise. The information you have received from Alina is correct. The clicking sound will also occur when particles in the air pass through it. Depending on the environment, it can be quite often. This would be normal. Unfortunately, the manual is no longer available. However, I'm listing a site you can access, that explains how an electronic air cleaner works and the maintenance involved. The site is http://customer.honeywell.com/techlit/pdf/PackedLit/69-0756.pdf . This is not for your model but the information will be helpful. An electronic air cleaner can be very difficult to diagnose. There is also a very high voltage produced and I strongly recommend having a technician make the checks and repairs necessary. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this helps you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
