The door switch may very well be your problem. There may be two door switches or just one.

The most likely cause however is a bad thermal fuse. If the thermal fuse is bad then the control will not have any lights or display.

If you can reply with a model number I can give you a more complete answer.

I REPLACED BOTH SWITCHES ON THE DOOR AND ALSO THE THERMAL FUSE AS YOU SUGGESTED. IT STILL DOES NOT WORK. MY INVESTMENT INTO THIS IS ABOUT $70.00. THE MODEL NO. IS S62NXPLP-7624. WE PURCHASED IT IN 2002, AND I FEEL THAT WE DO NOT USE IT AS MOST FAMILIES WOULD USE THEIRS. IF YOU THINK I'M WASTING MY TIME AND MONEY. I WILL REPLACE IT. THANK YOU FRED M. I CAN BE REACHED AT 720-260-3678 IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TALK. JAMES M.

Let us not buy any more parts just yet. If I had known you would go ahead and purchase the door switch or thermal fuse I would have told you how to bypass them with a small piece of insulated wire first. You replaced them and there was no change. At this point I would like to know if you are comfortable using a volt/ohm meter. When there is no power the thermal fuse is suspect number one but if it is still dead then it might be the control itself. There is one other place you should check first. Remove the kick plate and at the junction box carefully access the power wires. Make sure the wire nuts and connections are tight. I would not suggest a new one just yet. It still might be the control is bad or there is just a bad spot on the harness. Try the connection and let me know how it goes. It is not time yet but I will let you know when replacement might be a better option.

Thank you, never thought this could be the problem, since I had power when I checked it with my meter up to the switch. When i removed the cap with the white wires. I found that the wire from the dishwasher was somewhat burnt. I cut back about two inches and re-connected. It worked fine. What could have caused this to happen? I'm thinking that the switch and fuse may have been good or one may have been bad causing the burn. Thank you for your help and reply.

More than likely this problem was caused just by the poor connection under the wire nut. A loose connection can cause higher amp draw which might have caused the fuse to blow. I am glad it worked out.

I have provided you with complete step by step access, testing & replacement instructions from the service manual. This type of repair will require removing the door panel & kick panels in order to access the drain pump. Please click on the image below for more instructions.
