Q:

Model 790.96124408 Kenmore Electric Oven

A:

Diagnosing an f10 error code on Kenmore ovens can be tricky. Since the probe was replaced and you still have the error code F10, it may be the EOC that needs replacement. Our expert will be with you with an answer to your specific questions.

I have a change to report. The oven seems to work fine and the bottom heating element works at 365. When we turn on the oven, we generally want to use it at 350 and that seems to cause the problem and only heats the upper element. Maybe that is normal?

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The oven temperature sensor if faulty could cause the range to overheat. An oven element burning/shorting out can also cause over heating but it would not likely cause it to over heat enough to display the F10 fault code.

When an oven element burns out or shorts, the element can remain on causing the oven to over heat. The bake element should be disconnected and tested with an Ohm meter for resistance or continuity. NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power supply before removing and testing the bake element for continuity. If the oven element test Okay and it's not shorted or burnt out, the electronic oven control is most likely faulty. I added a YouTube video showing how to test the bake element using an Ohm meter.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
