Question and Answers

Q:

The motor is running fine in the refrigerator, but it appears the refrigerant is not. Can this be replaced by us? Model #3639762821

A:

If the fan motor is running but no cooling is taking place, it first has to be determined, if the compressor and condenser motor are running. If everything is running but no cooling is taking place, the problem will be in the seal system or with the compressor. It could be a low charge, a restriction or the compressor may not be pumping. These are checks a technician will be required to make.

If the compressor or condenser motor is not running, some voltage checks will need to be made. If the condenser motor has failed (located next to the compressor), you can replace it but if the compressor has failed, it will require a technician. I'm listing a site you can check to have a technician come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.

Q:

Why is water leaking inside my Kenmore refrigerator?

A:

You will need to remove the back panel inside the freezer section in order to reach the defrost drain. Be sure to flush out the complete drain line with hot water before reassembling. You can remove the drain hose on the back of the refrigerator to catch the water in a pan.

Another method is to empty the unit out & turn it off with the doors open & use a fan to circulate the air. This will take about 2-3 days to defrost & dry out this way.
