Question and Answers

Q:

How can I fix a drain problem on my Kenmore refrigerator when water is collecting in the bottom of my refrigerator about once a day?

A:

The water should drain out the back and down to the drain pan. If you are seeing water then the drain is most likely clogged.

The drain can be access by removing the ice maker and rear panel of the freezer unit.

First I'd suggest you store the food and completely defrost the freezer section. This will take a few hours. With the unit defrosted you can check in the back where the drain hose is for water. If there is water then likely the drain was clogged with ice.

If there is no water then there is something blocking the drain and you would have to remove the ice maker and rear panel to find out why. Compressed air is the best way to clear the drain line but a piece of wire will work also.

Once defrost the drain should be clear. It may work fine or it may clog up again in a month or two. I'd suggest checking that the front of the refrigerator is a 1/4 inch higher in front than the rear.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
