Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't this icemaker fill with water?

A:

The water lines to the icemaker and dispenser are separated at the water valve. One side of the valve feeds the dispenser and the other side feeds the icemaker. Since the water fill tube is not frozen and if the icemaker is cycling, the problem will be with the icemaker or the water valve. This can be checked, by jumping out the icemaker wire harness connection. First unplug the unit from the wall outlet. Now use a well insulated jumper and place it between the white and brown wires, at the icemaker harness connector. Plug the power cord back in and water should flow to the icemaker. If water does flow, the icemaker # WR30X10093 will need to be replaced. If no water flows, the water valve # WR57X10051 will probably have to be replaced. To determine for sure, a voltage check would need to be made at the valve. With the jumper in place, there should be 120 volts at the valve between the white and orange wires. This check has to be made with the wires still connected to the valve. Do not disconnect the wires from the valve. If the voltage is there, the valve has to be replaced. If there is no voltage and the jumper is still in place, it indicates a break in the wiring, between the icemaker and the valve. If this is not a check you feel comfortable doing, a technician would be needed. Both of these parts are available at Sears PartsDirect . If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.

Q:

How do I remove the water & ice dispenser on my Kenmore fridge 363.9557720?

A:

The front cover of this dispenser fits very tight but is only held in place with tabs. It will pry off but it's very tight. I'm sending a picture with instructions. If it quit completely and the light also, the freezer interlock (door) switch could be defective. If the contacts in the interlock switch don't work, the dispenser will not get any voltage. To check this first unplug the power cord and then you can pop out the freezer door switch. With it out you can now jump (connect) the brown and gray wires together. Make sure they don't touch anything and plug the unit back in and press the dispenser actuator. If it works the door switch # WR23X368 will need to be replaced. This part is available at www.searspartsdirect.com .

If the dispenser still won't work a technician will be required to make some voltage checks.
