Thank you for your question. I'm not sure exactly what is taking place. If the unit stops running completely and everything defrosts or if a thick frost is building up and you have to unplug the unit to defrost it. If it stops running and everything in the freezer thaws, the most likely problem will be with the defrost timer. It could also be the thermostat but it's not as likely. A good check for this would be to manually turn the timer dial the next time this situation occurs. The timer (# 257 in picture) is located in the control housing. The dial will be in the small hole in the housing. Turn it clockwise and if the unit comes back on, it will indicate the timer is getting stuck. In this case the timer # WR9X489 would need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

everything works fine until the defrosters come on they do not shut down they keep defrosting until everything in the freezer starts to thaw out. the only way i can get them to stop is to unplug the unit. I agree, I am thinking the defrost timer as well. I think it is telling the defrosters to come on but is not telling them to go back off. Thank you for your time

Vince, this does sound like the timer is not advancing out of the defrost cycle. When this problem occurs again, try turning the dial on the timer and if the unit starts running, then you will know for sure that the timer is the problem. I hope this helps you.

Q:

Where does the actuator wire go in my Kenmore model 363.9542613?

A:

Sorry, I was unable to locate a tech sheet or service manual that shows any pictures or breakdowns of this icemaker. I did include a picture off an icemaker similar to the one in your refrigerator (see image below). The actuator wire inserts into the hole at the front of the icemaker, (the hole I am pointing at in the picture). The other end goes into the hole in front of my thumb of the other hand.

If you require further assistance please resubmit question with more details. I will be looking forward to helping you again in the near future.
