Question and Answers

Q:

My ice maker is not working

A:

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your ice maker. You do not mention if the ice maker is getting any water into it. I am assuming that it doesn't. If this the case, then the issue is being causing by either the water valve or the ice maker. A good check will be to, by-pass the icemaker and see if water will flow. To make this check, remove the icemaker from the wall. You can either loosen or remove the top screws but the bottom screw has to be removed. With the icemaker loose now, disconnect the wire harness. Use a well insulated jumper and place it between the brown and white wires coming out of the cabinet. Be careful this is a hot (live) check. If water does flow now, the icemaker will need to be replaced. If no water flows, the water valve will need to be replaced. Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model 363.9530713; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Non-cooling can be caused by many things, here are a few things you can check yourself. The most common reason for not cooling is poor air movement over the condenser coils located under the unit in machine compartment.  Check the coils, if they are clogged with dust and lint they need to be cleaned (access from back service panel.) In the same area is a condensing fan motor and it should be running when the compressor runs. It moves the air over the compressor and the coils; if it is not running or is running very slow it should be replaced. If the coils are clean and the fan is moving air properly, next look in the back inside the freezer section, if there is heavy frost covering the back cover that means the system is not defrosting and you will need to call a technician. Next, if all the above seems ok check to see if the evaporator fan in the freezer is running; if not again you will need a technician out. Last if everything mentioned seems ok I would suspect a sealed system issue and a technician is required.I hope this helps, if you need more help reply with added details and I will be happy to respond.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services. Ron H.

Thanks for the information about your refrigerator model   3639530713, I will be glad to assist you with the issue. The ice in the bottom of your freezer section can only come from two sources, the ice maker leaking or the defrost drain is clogged. If the ice maker was leaking you would see ice near the top of freezer as well which you did not mention. That leaves the defrost drain that is located below the evaporator coil in the back of the freezer. First you will need to deice the freezer by unplugging, leaving doors open for 8 to 10 hours.( prepare for water leaking to floor) Once the ice has all melted you will need to remove shelves from freezer and remove the back cover . After removing the cover you can see the evaporator and the defrost drain trough under the coil.  Clean and flush the drain hole pushing any debris to the underside of the unit where it will go into the drain pan. ( the use of air pressure works best) After cleaning reassemble in reverse order and you should be ready for food reload. I hope this helps, should you need additional help please reply with added details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.
