Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the icemaker stops working. You did not mention the part number of the icemaker you received. The replacement icemaker is # WR30X10093. If this is the icemaker you received and it still wont fill with water, it will lead to a defective water valve. First, check the fill tube behind the icemaker to see if its frozen. If its clear, this icemaker can be cycled manually to see if it will fill. Im attaching a picture with instructions to cycle the icemaker. If it cycles now but does not fill and if you can hear a humming sound, it will indicate the water valve is getting energized but not opening. In this case, the water valve # WR57X10051 will need to be replaced. If water does fill and since the icemaker has been replaced, it would lead to the freezer temperature not getting cold enough (below 12 degrees), to cycle the icemaker. If this is the case, usually adjusting the control to a colder setting will resolve this problem. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Yes, I did install #WR30X10093 even though it was not an exact match to the original. The original was a side mount and the replacement is a rear mount. That caused some minor complications, but I figured it should still work okay. I tried to cycle the icemaker manually by pulling the rake arm all the way to the 3 o'clock position. It onlywent back to about a 2 o'clock position and then nothing more happened. I did not hear any humming sound. The freezer temperature is about 5 degrees. Should I try anything else before ordering the ware valve?

Bill, the water valve may be the problem but to determine for sure, a voltage check will need to be made at the valve. You will need to gain access to the valve. Disconnect the power and remove the back panel cover. Place your meter leads between the connector that has the white and orange wires. Leave the wires connected to the valve. Do not disconnect the wire connector. Now, reconnect the power and cycle the icemaker again. Watch your meter to see if the valve gets 120 volts on these wires toward the end of the icemaker cycle. If the voltage is there, the water valve will need to be replaced. If there is no voltage, I recommend having a technician check the wiring, between the icemaker and the water valve. I hope this will help you.

From the description you give I suspect the water valve is the problem.

If opening the door or even unplugging the refrigerator didn't stop the water then the valve is stuck in an open position. You should replace the valve even if it appears to start working properly. If the valve fails once then it will fail again usually at the worst possible time.

The WR57X10051 water valve is available from the following link: New Valve .

I hope this information is helpful to you and thanks for taking the time to submit a question. You can reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.
