Your details seem to indicate that the ice maker assembly is broken. You described a spring that is broken. I am not aware of any parts being available for that older ice maker assembly (original part number WR30X0327. The replacement ice maker assembly for that original component is now an electronic version that is part WR30X10093. Here is a direct link for that part: Ice Maker Kit . Based on your details, you will probably need to replace that ice maker assembly to fix this failure. Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components. If you need more help, reply with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Check the fill tube for the ice maker to see if it is frozen. Defrosting that fill tube may fix your problem in that situation.

Make sure that the wire shut-off arm on the ice maker is in the down position. Manually fill the ice maker mold with water using a turkey baster or sports type of squirt water bottle with a spout. See if the water freezes and is ejected from the ice maker. If the ice maker cycles but does not fill, then I recommend that you check the water supply for the refrigerator. Shut off the water supply cut-off valve and remove the water line connected to the back of the refrigerator. Place the end of the water supply line in a bucket and briefly open the water supply shut-off valve to check for proper water pressure and flow from the end of the water line. If the water supply is inadequate, then you will probably need to have a plumber fix that problem.

If the water supply is okay, you could have a failed water valve or a bad ice maker assembly. A wiring failure could also cause this problem. You can unplug the refrigerator and check the wire harness connections using the information shown in the first two images below. The first image shows a wiring diagram and the second image shows the harnesses and connections. If you find no problems with the wiring connections, then you can try to manually cycle that ice maker using that procedure shown in the third image. That procedure will only work on certain ice makers that look like the one shown in the 4th image. If you have a different type of ice maker, that test procedure may not work. If you are able to test cycle that ice maker and the water valve buzzes but the ice maker does not fill, then you will need to replace that water valve. If the water valve does not buzz then you could have a bad ice maker assembly or a bad water valve. A wiring failure would also cause that problem. Reply with additional details if you need help checking those issues.

If you need parts you can order them from the Sears PartsDirect website. Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components.

If the ice maker will not cycle at all after manually filling the ice mold with water, then you can use the information shown in the first 2 images below to check the wire harness connections on the ice maker. You can try to manually cycle the ice maker. If it will not respond, then you may need to replace that component (part WR30X10093). Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components.

If you need more help with this failure, reply with additional details based on the above testing.

If you get to a point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule one through this link: Sears Home Services .
