Q:

no water to ice maker 36370942000 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I understand how frustrating it can be when the ice maker does not work properly. There should be a test button on the ice maker itself that you can press for a couple of seconds to manually cycle the unit. If it does not fill but cycles and you can hear humming, this indicates that the valve is being energized. This would indicate that the valve is not opening and may need replacing. The cycle should go as follows: Initial --> ice ejection --> water supply control steps. If you have a multimeter and are comfortable with using it, your water valve reading should be between 200 and 500 ohms. The exact ohm resistance rating you should test for may be marked on the valve. If the ice maker does not cycle, it may need to be replaced.
Also, check your water lines and makes sure they are clear and not clogged. If you have a water filter that has not been changed in over 6 months, I recommend changing it as the filter will break down after some time and cause clogs in the line.
SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services
