Q:

Kenmore Microwave, Model # 721.66222011. 72166222011 Kenmore Microwave

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about the part for your Kenmore Elite microwave model 36363699303. I am so sorry the Mica Wave Guide Cover has crumbled. I will be happy to help you with this.

The wave guide serves two functions. Microwaves are created by the magnetron and this wave guide covers the opening through which they enter the oven cavity. The wave guide protects you from accidently touching the magnetron which contains dangerous electrical voltage even when the microwave is unplugged. It also prevents steam and food splatter from getting on the electrical components of the microwave. For these reasons it is important the part be replaced. I have included the link below for you to order the part.

Because the microwave arcs and sparks during use, I recommend you disconnect the microwave and not use it until it can be serviced by a qualified technician. The arcing and sparks could be an indication that the internal components have food and moisture accumulated on them or that they may already be damaged and need to be replaced.

Microwave ovens are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged from the power supply. Even minor door repairs and adjustments can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test MUST be performed using a survey meter after ANY/ALL microwave service. For these safety reasons I recommend having this repair completed by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME (1-800-469-4663).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Thank you for your quick response. I am so sorry the information I provided was difficult to understand. If you click on the link I provided you will be able to see a photo of the part to confirm this is the part you need. You will also see the part number there. In case you are unable to open the link, the part number is WB06X10311. I also included the link for the screw that holds the wave guide in place. I included that information in case the original screw is damaged. That part number is WB01X10107.  I wanted to be sure you have all the parts needed to complete the repair. The wave guide is held in place by the screw. Extreme care must be used even when replacing a simple part on a microwave. The magnetron can retain enough electrical charge to kill a person if it is accidently touched. This is why we caution our members to have a technician complete all microwave repairs.

I hope this information is easier to understand. Please let me know if you need further clarification. Thank you again for choosing Sears.
