Question and Answers

Q:

Refrigerator side won't cool below 55 degrees F 36358895896 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

See if the evaporator fan is running in the back of the freezer. That could be causing your problem.

You indicated that you manually cycled the automatic defrost system. You did not say whether you determined whether the defrost heater turned on in the evaporator section of the freezer. If that defrost heater doesn't work, then you could have a build-up of frost that is inhibiting cooling in the refrigerator. Here is a video that shows and explains the defrost system in a refrigerator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnRKj7_BtNw .

This information may help you determine the cause of your refrigerator cooling problem. If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Thanks. I determined that the defrost heater is coming on, but not on every defrost cycle. The evaporator coils were frozen over. So, I manually defrosted the evaporator coils and changed out both the defrost timer and thermostat. The refrigerator and freezer appear to be working fine now.

A:

I'm sorry you are having this problem with the water flow to the icemaker and dispenser. The information you have received from Joseph is good but this will be a different problem. Based on the information listed, this is very unusual but it would appear the filter housing has failed. Now, if water was still flowing when the old filter was in place, I suggest putting it back in before purchasing a new filter head. If the water flows with the old filter, it will indicate the new filter is defective and will need to be exchanged. If water still won't flow, the filter head # WR17X10452 will need to be replaced. It's available at SearsPartsDirect . I hope this helps you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thank you for your question. I'm attaching a picture of the water tube (# 75 in picture) to the dispenser. To access this line, will require removing the inner door panel. This can be a very difficult job. The second picture will show the water lines to the dispenser and icemaker. The icemaker water line will connect to the valve behind the cabinet and then run straight up and connect to the fill tube that goes through the cabinet. I hope this will help you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
