A:

Be sure the fan in the compressor compartment and the fan inside the freezer are running.

Remove the lower basket from the freezer and see if the rear wall of the freezer (which is the evaporator cover) has frost and ice on it. If there is frost on the evaporator coil, the defrost system is not working properly.

If you want to repair the refrigerator, reply on this thread with details of what you find and I will be glad to help.

Aashe posted a link for your owner's manual in the above response. Here is another link for that manual: Owner's Manual . Your additional details that you just posted indicate that the refrigerator is not cooling. If the compressor is running, I recommend that you check the evaporator for a frost pattern. Here is a link for video that shows some information on the location of components in the refrigerator: Refrigerator Not Cooling Repair . The information in that video will help you check the evaporator and other components if necessary. Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components. If the freezer is cooling but the refrigerator is warm, you could have a defrost system problem or a failure in the air damper between the freezer and refrigerator.

If the compressor is running but you have no frost pattern on the evaporator, then you apparently have a sealed system failure (bad compressor or lack of Freon refrigerant). A service technician will need to diagnose and repair that type of failure. It would probably be more economical to replace the refrigerator rather that to repair it if you have that type of failure. If you want to proceed with a repair, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services . If you want to replace the refrigerator, you can view current models on the Sears.com .

If the compressor is not running, you could have a bad start relay, failed overload, bad thermostat, failed defrost timer, a wiring failure or a failed compressor. Except for a bad compressor, the other problems could probably be diagnosed and fixed if you are technically inclined to perform some diagnostic checks. Reply with additional details if you face that situation and need more help.

If you need parts, you can order them from the Sears PartsDirect .
