Q:

Detergent cup lid won't close.

A:

I can understand your concern over your detergent lid not latching.  I did locate a link that will discuss your situation in greater detail.
Click here to view the link.
Though this link discusses a different model number, the mechanics are likely going to be very similar.
Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business
days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction.  If you feel you would need further assistance,
or if you feel like you would be more comfortable having an expert resolve your issue,
I would strongly recommend Sears Home Service.com.  Click here to open to their page for home service.  I hope this will help you and have a nice day.

A:

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dishwasher. The timer must be in the off position for the latch to catch on the lever. The detergent cup latch shows the serrated latch in the 6 o'clock position. When the cup is closed it will be more in the 12 o'clock position. With the latch in the 12 o'clock position the lever when pivoted should reach the latch. If it does not then the lever is most likely in the wrong position. The spring will pull up on one end of the lever forcing the other end down to catch the latch.   I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
