From the description you give I would suggest you check the door switch first. If a meter is available the door switch can be checked for continuity when the door is closed. I may be able to provide further assistance if you reply with a model number.

Kaye, I can help you with this dishwasher with a great deal of do-it-yourself repair information but the site is not a back and forth in real time. The back and forth may take a couple of days. Once I know the problem your having I try to send information which will solve your problem without the need of a service call or even a response. It may seem slow but it is also free and well worth the wait considering most repairs will cost over $100 dollars. Vernisia I'm sorry I didn't get back to you quicker. To answer your question I believe the model dishwasher you mention is around 62 decibels. Most newer dishwasher will be in the 51-58 decibel rating.

Q:

Why won't my dishwasher pump all the water out instead of leaving one inch of water in the tub?

A:

The most likely failure is a bad piston and nut assembly. When the piston and nut assembly does not seat properly when draining water, a small percentage of the water will recirculate back into the tub instead of out the drain hose. You will need to remove the sump cover (key#506) and the filter frame (key#543) in order to access and remove the piston and nut assembly (key#564). Look at the rubber funnel looking seal and you will likely find the rubber deteriorating. The piston and nut Assembly is part# WD24X10018. I added a link to Sears Parts Direct with the piston and nut assembly looked up for you. Click on "Piston & nut asm" to open link.
