Q:

Oven igniter installation for 36275970690 36275970690

A:

That igniter part will normally come with instructions and ceramic (porcelain) wire nuts to connect the wires. If you igniter came with neither of those items, then you will need to purchase some high temperature ceramic wire nuts at your local appliance repair center or hardware store. Check to see if the existing wire harness in the range has any slack. If not, then you will need high temperature rated wire to connect that igniter. Take the igniter with you to the supply store to purchase the correct wire.

If you are not confident that you can safely complete this repair, I recommend that you have a service technician install that ignier. You can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services Range Repair.

A:

These kinds of problems are very unwelcome at this time of year. I will be happy to try to help. The link Joseph provided has good information. This error message is normally displayed only when the self clean cycle is used (or following the use of this cycle). It indicates a problem in the door switch or the door lock circuit. See image below. You can try making sure the door is secure by pressing in on it, then set a self clean cycle again, then cancel self clean. The lock error should stop after a few minutes. If it is still on, try disconnecting power to the range for about three minutes, then restore power. If the error returns, then there is a problem with the door lock or door assembly or the control panel. With the door open, if you can see the door lock mechanism extended, push in on the oven door light switch and hold it in until the latch hook retracts to the unlocked position. If the error persists, then I would recommend having the range tested and repaired by a technician. You can schedule a Sears technician here; Sears Home Services .

A:

I had replaced the oven ignitier on this range before so I knew my way around it a little. I discovered that the door locking mechanism, for the oven cleaning cycle, contacts a microswitch, which lets the system know when the door is locked. This microswitch was no longer working. I disconnected the switch and now the oven works fine. The self cleaning cycle for the oven is now disabled at least until, and if, I replace the microswitch. I also evicted the mouse that was living under the burner deck.
