Question and Answers

Q:

I have a kenmore gas stove model #3627586690 and the oven is not gheting on

A:

The most common cause for this type of failure is a bad igniter on the oven burner. You can pull the oven bottom and flame spreader out and view the igniter to see if it is glowing when you start the oven. If the igniter is glowing, it is the most likely cause of your failure even though it is glowing. Even though the igniter is glowing, it is likely weak and is not allowing enough current to flow through the circuit to open the safety gas valve for ignition. This is a common failure.

If the igniter is not glowing, you could still have a failed igniter or your could also have a wiring failure. A bad electronic control board would also cause this problem.

If you need to replace the igniter (or other parts), you can order it from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the igniter is WB2X9154. Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before replacing this component.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

The instructions to use the self cleaning feature on this oven are in the image below.

Since you need the instructions I assume you don't have an owner's manual for this oven and if you would like to have one then click the following link: Owner's Manual .

Q:

How to replace the oven igniter?

A:

To access the bake igniter will require removing the floor from inside the oven cavity. See the image I added below.

  1. Disconnect the power supply cord from the power supply.
  2. Open the oven door and remove the racks
  3. Remove the two thumb screws located at the back of the oven floor.
  4. Lift the rear of the oven floor up and slide it back to clear the front lip and remove the oven floor.
  5. You will see the igniter mounted on the side of the burner assembly towards the back.
  6. Remove the mounting screw from the igniter.
  7. Disconnect the wiring to the igniter.
  8. Install the new igniter.
  9. Reverse the procedure to reassemble range.
NOTE: Be careful with the igniter. Do not touch the dark part of the igniter and handle it will care. The igniter is very fragile and can break very easily.
