I can understand how this would be a difficult problem with the oven. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I have found a link that will provide some information on the issue. It is most likely that the problem is with the thremostat. I hope this helps.

Since the range initially heats to the proper temperature, the temperature sensor and the control are probably okay. Your failure is likely caused by a weak igniter (part WB13K21). The theory of operation for that ignition system is shown in the image below. A weak igniter will ignite the burner on the initial lighting sequence but will not work on the subsequent ignition attempts. Since the broil and the bake burner in this range use the same igniter, you can try switching those igniters to see if the bake burner will work properly. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing and switching those igniters. If the oven heats properly in the bake mode after switching the igniters, then replacing that bad igniter should fix your problem. You can order that igniter from the Sears PartsDirect website. Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components.

Thank you very much Lyle! I was thinking the control would be the problem but your suggestion to exchange the two igniters helped me out a lot and saved me some money or heartache at least. I exchanged the two igniters and it fixed my probelms I was having. Now to order a new ignitor so my broil isn't going to give me problems.
