Q:

My Oven does not hold the temperature I set it to, which part can I replace that will fix the problem?

A:

It can be very frustrating when you can't seem to resolve an issue with an appliance. I did some research at managemylife.com and found an expert answer to a similar question that I hope will shed some light on your repair. I attached the link below. I hope this helpsuntil your expert can respond.

Based on your symptoms, you could have a bad gas valve (part WB19K36) or a failed control board (part WB27K10141). You will also need to check the wiring between the components.

I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure. The technician can check the amp draw through the circuit and the resistance of the safety gas valve. The sensor will likely need to be rechecked along with the igniter. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

I provided the theory of operation for the ignition system in the image below. A relay on the control board is used instead of a mechanical thermostat on this range. The resistance of the sensor should be around 1100 ohms at room temperature. This information may help you determine the failed component if you want to check it yourself. Follow electrical safety guidelines when using this information. Unplug the range when accessing internal components. You should only have the range plugged in during testing when necessary. Unplug the range following any test that requires voltage.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.
